Heriot Bay
Quadra Island, BC
28 x 60 in
Oil on canvas

The long wharf in front of the historic Heriot Bay Inn is a landmark on Quadra Island. In the summer it is a busy place - full of colourful boats. It is also the place where we usually launch our kayaks, so I often have a chance to review the boat activity. The ferry to Cortes Island also docks nearby - so the peaceful atmosphere in this painting is often broken by hectic activity!

"My escape is to just get in a boat and disappear on the water."

- Carl Hiaasen
