Inglewood Lagoon I
Inglewood Conservation Area, Calgary
36 x 36 in
Oil on canvas

I spent some time working on a migratory bird monitoring project in the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary. We started before sunrise and through the morning got to enjoy the changing effect of the light and the reflections in the lagoon. Near noon on one summer day, with the light at its brightest, the colours in the water, and a bit of wave motion from the breeze, produced a brilliant pattern in the reflection.

“Take a course in good water and air; and in the eternal youth of Nature you

may renew your own. Go quietly, alone; no harm will befall you.”

- John Muir
