Moving Water - diptych
40 x 50 in
Oil on canvas

This is one of the very few paintings which have referenced photos by other people. A good friend has been working to preserve the Castle headwaters, and she has taken some wonderful images of that river. I could not resist working from one of these shots – the colours are so rich and the presentation of the water is so complex.

“In rivers, the water that you touch is the last of what has passed and the first of that which comes; so with present time.”

- Leonardo da Vinci
