Toward the Misty Mountains
Great Bear Rainforest

46 x 30 in.
Oil on canvas

The feeling of vastness you experience in a little boat in the ocean can be serene or terrifying. On a calm day with friendly ripples on the water and a soft light on the distant shore, it can be sublime. The constantly changing effect of light glinting off of the water is like being in the middle of a fairy dance, accompanied by the soft “plonk” of the paddle entering the water and the waves lapping on the side of the boat.

“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Be water, my friend.”
~ Bruce Lee
