Dockside Ripples
Hornby Island, BC
24 x 24 in.
Oil on canvas

I love the abstract arrangements that I can pull out of images of water, especially when I can contract the geometric forms of boats with the fluid, organic effect of water. The sense of mass against the dancing, changeable surface of the water is fun to play with. And that exotic blue colour of the ocean is so gorgeous to paint.

“Look at that sea, girls--all silver and shadow and vision of things not seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of dollars and ropes of diamonds.”
