Under Aero Pier
Haida Gwaii, BC 80 x 96.5 cm Oil on canvas On a paddling trip to the Queen Charlotte Islands we explored the ruins of the old Aero camp where Sitka spruce was harvested to make light aircraft during WW I. Old engines, logging equipment and other debris lie around among the trees, but most intriguing was the old pier and the patterns in the water created by the gentle waves from our kayaks. This is probably the most strongly abstract image I have worked with so far. |
